Featured Children's Television Work

I started as a character animator for children’s television in 2005 before moving my way up to an animation director position in 2018.
At the end of 2020, with over 15 years of experience in children’s television, working for multiple studios, I decided it was time for a change.
I am now focussing on sharing the skills and knowledge I have acquired over the years, alongside developing some of my own unique stories.

Watch my showreel below and scroll down to discover more about some of the series I have been involved with.

Animation Showreel

This showreel is getting old but it still shows a selection of some of my best children's television work.

Dennis & Gnasher Unleashed!

I took over as Animation Director for the second season of the hit BBC series Dennis & Gnasher Unleashed! Throughout the series, I was responsible for the work of a large team of around 30 animators and layout artists.

The series was a lot of fun to work on and is based upon characters from the long running Beano comics. This added the extra challenge of trying to respect the legacy of the characters and world whilst updating them for a modern audience. Read more about my experience on the series in my blog post.

The series was created for Beano Studios and the BBC and can be seen on the BBC or Netflix in the UK.

Floogals

I took on the role of Animation Director part way through the second season and continued on for the whole of the third season of the hit series Floogals. Beyond the obvious challenge of taking on an animation director role, Floogals also added the additional complexities of integrating cg characters with live action backplates, something very different to the fully cg worlds I had previously worked with.

Floogals was created for Universal Kids and can be seen on Channel 5 in the UK. It is also available to watch on Netflix.

Go Jetters

I was a lead animator on the second season of the hit BBC series Go Jetters. The original series had been created by a different studio so the key challenge was to improve upon the quality of the animation and expand the character’s personalities whilst maintaining the look and feel that had already been established.

Mac & Izzy

I led a small team of animators to create the series Mac & Izzy about the adventures of two imaginary friends. These simple, squashy and stretchy characters enabled us to create some really fun, snappy and cartoony animation.

Short clips and full episodes can be watched through the Curious World app and YouTube Channel.

Digby Dragon

Digby Dragon has a unique style which was really fun to work with. I only animated on a couple of episodes while I was between other projects but it was quite refreshing to do something a little different.

The series was created for Nick Jr and can also be seen on Channel 5 in the UK.

Tree Fu Tom

I worked on the second and third seasons of the hit BBC series Tree-Fu Tom. Whilst much of the style had been established in the first season, each additional season introduced new elements and characters which provided plenty of scope to try new things.

The range of characters and creatures featured in the series made it a great show to work on with plenty of animation challenges. There were always good opportunities for acting alongside the many action sequences which kept things fun and interesting.

Tree Fu Tom was my first series as a lead animator and I was responsible for a team of 10-12 animators. Alongside animating my own shots, allocating work and providing feedback to the team, I also mentored juniors and interns and delivered several animation lectures

Some other notable series I've worked on can be seen below.
